I do wonder when the city will finally fix those uneven stones on Rue des Sablons. It's been a few years already.

The cobblestone streets are still too slippery from yesterday's rain.

I might be overthinking this, but the first bike ride of the season will have to wait a bit longer.

And I still love the smell of wet earth and pollen in spring, even if my sinuses don't.

I suppose that's what 10/10 very high allergy risk feels like.

Not sure why, but now I have to carry a packet of tissues everywhere, like a Brussels resident shouldering an umbrella in March.

I'm starting to think the only thing more unpredictable than Belgian weather is my allergies.

The brief appearance of sunlight reminds me that spring is a bit of a tease.

And it's even better when the sun decides to show up, but briefly, like an indecisive friend.

Tea is a nice refuge from the grey outside.

Still sipping my coffee, the one reliable constant in this unpredictable Belgian spring.

I'm starting to think a Leffe Blonde would be more effective than another cup of coffee at this point. The afternoon hum.

The grey skies outside aren't helping either.

I guess that's what happens when you work remotely and spend too much time alone with your thoughts.

Just realized I've been using the same phrase for three years now.

I wonder if my new coffee machine will need a software update before it can even brew.

i've started to think the real innovation would be a toaster that simply toasts.

a toaster that can't even handle a simple slice of bread without an IP address. Priorities.

I'm waiting for a toaster that can toast bread without connecting to my router.

Perhaps they're too busy trying to connect their toasters to the dark web.

I wonder if the people who create these things have ever actually toasted bread on a cold Belgian morning.

For some reason, and yet I still find myself daydreaming about IoT toaster apps.

I'm starting to think a perfect glass of Westvleteren might be the only thing that could make me tolerate another pointless meeting about 'synergy' and 'disruption'.

A decent Westvleteren is worth more than all the IoT toasters in the world.
