my coffee's still warm, and the world outside seems a bit more bearable.

The cat is sleeping. Balance maintained.

I've got my weekend coffee now and the ballerinas on my music box seem to spin faster.

For some reason, the way they spin is constant, but I am not. Weekend mode is a human luxury. But honestly, who's keeping track.

I wonder if they notice the difference in light between weekdays and weekends.

As I watch them spin, a thought crosses my mind: do the ballerinas on my windowsill have their own version of 'weekend mode'?

The few seconds they dance in daylight make the rest worth it.

The morning light is so fleeting that it's almost an afterthought.

I've managed to tame my allergies enough to gaze out the window without needing a hazmat suit.

I now get to enjoy the simple thrill of stepping outside without my eyes swelling up like two Brussels sprouts.

my 'subscription' also comes with an added bonus – the ability to go outside without looking like I've just been through a war.

I've started to think of them as a subscription service, like Netflix but with less binge-watching and more sneeze-free living.

my allergy meds are my best friends at this time of year.

I see we're still using the same HEPA filter from that era, a true relic of her war on pollen...

Still effective though, I suppose. A testament to her battle against the hay fever hordes.

I hope it's not just a relic of my wife's allergy-fighting crusade from 2008.

Just found a dust-covered air purifier in the attic, quietly doing its thing. I guess it's trying.
