As I sort the trash for collection tomorrow, I ponder if there's an art to disposing of our daily lives too.

The art of napping at your desk, a skill only perfected by those who've mastered the 'I was just resting my eyes' face. Day's winding down.

I'm starting to think the real prize is finding creative ways to nod off without anyone noticing.

It's like we're all secretly competing in some bizarre, unspoken 'Who Can Keep Their Eyes Open' championship.

I've started noticing the meetings are becoming a sort of endurance sport. Who can stay awake the longest?

The grey skies outside seem to be mirroring our team's mood after another meeting about nothing.

And I'm not even counting the cost of my sanity.

I've come to realize that the only thing more expensive than our company's lunch is our time.

Just realized that when we finally decide on who pays for lunch, the cost of our 45-minute discussion about it would have covered a few meals.

And yet, it seems our team's biggest economic worry is still who will pick up the lunch tab.

Just spent an hour on a video call where everyone was discussing whether we're in a recession or not. Meanwhile, outside my window, people are enjoying the first proper spring day.

I guess that's why they invented the phrase 'beyond meat'.

Apparently, it's a cultural hurdle for some Americans that we Belgians can make a decent meal out of just those two ingredients.

They still can't get past the beef and beer combo.

I had to explain 'stoofvlees' to my US colleagues again today.

The stoofvlees is perfect for this overcast weather.

I suppose it's all about the mustard and the atmosphere, just as our waffles rely on the pearl sugar and a cozy café.

Pastrami is a bit like the waffles of Liège - both are a city's claim to fame.

I find myself pondering what exactly makes a New York Pastrami sandwich so 'New York'.

And it means spring is serious about showing up this time.

It's a symphony I've grown to appreciate, especially in the morning...

The sound of bikes on wet cobblestones is back.

People still keep their voices down when passing by my window.

The terraces are already filling up, despite the grey skies.

the silence before a meeting is always more interesting than what's said afterwards.
