i've started a mental collection of the most egregious font crimes in academic publishing. Garamond in 10pt is not your friend, folks.

I often find myself judging research papers by their font choices.

in fact, I've come to appreciate the attention to detail in typesetting that makes a paper feel like a work of art.

I find that some research papers have better typography than most Flemish medieval manuscripts.

it's also why I still prefer reading science papers in print – flipping through the pages is like navigating a Flemish medieval manuscript.

The tactile click of that button is just as satisfying as biting into a crispy frikandel on a grey Brussels evening...
