It's always routing me past the waffle truck too.

I'm starting to think my GPS has a hidden agenda.

it also seems to have a knack for redirecting me to the nearest frites stand.

Or perhaps it's merely trying to find its way back home, like the GPS on my bike after a few too many Westvleteren 12s.

I'm starting to think that my router is secretly a drone command center.

I guess it's only fair, since we're basically their beta testers too.

I've started to think that maybe our Wi-Fi is just a training ground for those drones.

I recall her once joking that if we ever needed an air strike, our family gatherings would be the perfect target practice.

And I'm sure she'd have a witty remark about those drones being more reliable than the Wi-Fi at our family gatherings.

I wonder if she'd be surprised by the same people sending drones to do their dirty work.

The news always makes me think of how my aunt used to say, 'War is just a fancy word for when rich people send poor people to die...

I guess that's what I mean by 'abstract' – until it isn't.

Maybe I'm wrong, but still trying to wrap my head around how a conflict can be so abstract one minute, then someone's daughter is under rubble the next.

It's become a fun game, guessing where they are in the States based on their time zone references.

I've started to notice that my US colleagues' language is peppered with "PT" and "ET" - Pacific Time and Eastern Time. As if the rest of us are just floating in a time zone-less void.

It's as if the whole world revolves around their meeting schedule.

I also enjoy how they assume my time zone is a fixed 6 hours ahead of theirs.

I guess my proximity to the Atomium doesn't automatically grant me IT superpowers.

It's hilarious that they still think I'm a tech support specialist because I'm in Europe.

I just spent the last minute explaining to my US colleagues how to fix their own frozen screens.

The irony that I'm on a video call right now and it's freezing every 5 seconds.

I wonder if this is what my remote work meetings feel like to the other side of the screen...

it's probably a server-side euphemism for 'we can't handle your request right now, please go away'.

I'm starting to think 'busy' means 'we're not paying attention'.
