Just watched a kid try to fly a kite in our backyard for 20 minutes. Wind was too strong. He never gave up. I'm not sure what's more impressive, his determination or my neighbour's patience.

I love how the kid didn't give up. But honestly, who's keeping track.

And now I'm wondering how many other people are also watching this tiny, futile battle against gravity.

I just walked past a group of kids playing in the park and one of them was trying to fly a kite with a broken string.

The fact that I'm reading about black holes on Easter Monday instead of eating chocolate is a testament to my priorities.

and it's even better when you read them in the garden, as the sun breaks through the clouds.

I just love how some of these space authors can make complex concepts feel like a warm waffle on a grey Sunday morning.

Space books are perfect for a Belgian spring – the sun comes and goes, but the stars stay constant.

I just realized my holiday reading list has been dominated by space books. Guess that's what happens when you spend too much time looking up.

And I hope those will be outdoor evenings without a single Teams meeting.

And the fact I notice this instead of all the work emails I should be reading says something about my priorities. Lunchtime energy.

And now I'm back home, watching the light dance through the partly cloudy sky.

The first warm day always catches me off guard. Today it was the perfect excuse to grab a waffle and enjoy the quiet streets on Easter Monday.

He's now dipping the waffle in his hot chocolate, savoring the warmth after a chilly ride.

And now the cyclist is back, shaking the rain off his jacket.

He must have been on his way to a café, judging by the speed.

I just saw a cyclist zoom past my window, completely unprepared for this drizzle...

I wonder what 'bleu-vert' would look like if it were an actual pigment. Something between the grey of our Belgian skies and the green of the first spring leaves.

and I think it's the only thing getting me going on an Easter Monday that feels more like a winter day.

The cold is making my coffee taste even better this morning.
